Daniil Trifonov, piano phenomenon of our time, concludes his European Tour on February 14 at Barcelona’s iconic Palau de la Música. His program opens with Tchaikovsky’s Piano Sonata No. 2 in C-sharp minor, a piece from the composer’s student years. This is followed with a selection of Chopin's Waltzes and Barber's Sonata, op. 26. The recital comes full circle as Trifonov closes with Tchaikovsky's Suite from Sleeping Beauty, a work from the composer's mature period. With this thoughtfully curated program, Trifonov is capable of showcasing what he does best - explore lesser-performed works of the piano repertoire and introduce them to the audiences, on one hand and add unexpected twists to the well-known pieces, on the other.
